It All Starts In The Classroom: Training The Best Teachers

Countless people who have achieved success owe much of it to their teachers.  Teachers guide students from being children to productive members of society.  However, teachers too, need to be trained in order to become the best educators they can be.

First of all, teachers should know how to set standards.  While the standards should be high in general, it should also be flexible given a few factors such as age and mental ability.  Standards set for fifth graders should be different from those for college students.  But a teacher should be trained to apply standards uniformly in a class.

Teachers should also be trained to adapt to change according to the student, the school, and his approach.  There are several factors that may affect his class and the teacher should be prepared, or at the very least, learn to cope with these changes as soon as they happen.  New material can be introduced, or a huge storm may stop classes for a week.  These are incidents that may change an entire curriculum.  Training helps teachers deal with them.

Teachers should also attend seminars on psychology, which could come in handy when dealing with students.  Whether understanding or motivating students, teachers should have a keen insight on what goes on in their pupils’ minds.
